FAQs

Whether you’ve taken lessons before or you’re brand new to the world of horseback riding, we are excited to

have you join us at the barn.

Is there paperwork I need to sign ahead of time?

Please review the Perennial Farm rules and policies. It would be lovely if you’d sign the release form right away.

What should I wear?

Jeans or leggings and boots (no tennis shoes) are appropriate attire for the lesson. Additionally,

riders are required to wear a helmet and gloves (a bike helmet is okay for your first lesson) and

carry a crop, though you won’t need one right away. We have helmets ($55), gloves ($25) and

crops ($20) available for purchase in the office - just ask and we’ll get you set up. Links to local tack shops are here.

What else should I bring?

A bottle of water and sunscreen are recommended. It can get hot out there!

What time should I arrive for my lesson?

For your introductory lesson, please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time. Once you are able

to tack your own horse or pony, we encourage you to arrive at least 30 minutes early so you can be sure

to start your lesson on time.

What do I do once I get there?

We’re located across the street from Ballast Point Park at 5305 Interbay Blvd. You can enter

from the street through the metal gate - just be sure to shut it behind you. You may park in the

areas in front of the rings and paddocks, but please be mindful that you aren’t blocking any gates

with your vehicle. There is also a public parking lot located just outside the main ring. Once you get

onto the property, you’ll see a small barn to your right. Head on in and a working student will be

there to greet you, introduce you to your horse or pony and get you ready for your lesson.

How much are lessons?

Please see the Riding Academy Information page.

What forms of payment do you accept?

ACH transfer (1% convenience fee will be added to your invoice)

Credit card (3% convenience fee will be added to your invoice)

Please note: checks are not accepted with the exception of your introductory lesson

What is the cancellation policy?

Lessons canceled after 5 p.m. the day prior to your lesson will be charged the full lesson fee.

Will I get a confirmation notice prior to my lesson?

Please do not expect a confirmation prior to each lesson. We will contact you in plenty of time if your lesson is canceled for weather or any other reason.

Thanks so much for choosing Perennial Farm. We’re looking forward to meeting you soon!
